Stingray UIMA Components

OASIS UIMA · Apache UIMA · Adaptive Information Tools

Oasis UIMA

OASIS is the standards group producing the Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA). This architectural common ground allows information workers and algorithm developers to work together more easily. Stingray is available as UIMA components compatible with this standard.

Apache UIMA

Apache UIMA is a UIMA framework and tools implementation project. Stingray UIMA components are tested with and compatible with Apache's UIMA implementation, ensuring reliable integration into existing UIMA pipelines.

Semantic Annotators

Stingray provides semantic Annotators that identify and tag concepts within unstructured text. These components work at the UIMA annotation level, enriching documents with concept-level metadata for downstream processing.

Collection Processor

A specialized Collection Processor identifies jargon and domain-specific terminology unique to a given data set. This allows Stingray to adapt its concept discovery to the language patterns of particular industries or document collections.

Adaptive Information Tools

Stingray is a dynamic semantic information tool. At the component level, basic operations for concept discovery and semantic tagging are exposed through the UIMA layer. Stingray can:

  • Learn meanings for words based on how they are used across large document sets.
  • Explore information using concepts rather than relying on keyword matching alone.
  • Discover themes in a body of text by identifying recurring conceptual patterns.
